2019 April Season Ticket- Primary Diagnosis & ICD-10-CM Code, The Key To PDPM Payment

Description

The key to the new CMS reimbursement model involves ensuring payments are accurately billed to cover expenses. Beginning October 1, 2019, Medicare reimbursement through the Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) will rely on the primary diagnosis as listed on the MDS. The ICD-10-CM code for the primary admitting diagnosis will determine the clinical category for reimbursement and, therefore, the payment a facility will receive for meeting the needs of Medicare Part A beneficiaries. There are additional ICD-10-CM diagnoses that will provide additional reimbursement.

This season ticket workshop will cover the Official ICD-10-CM Coding Guideline instructions for choosing a primary diagnosis; how the end of September Medicare admissions are to be handled; examples of how the PDPM payment is calculated and lots of practice on long term care scenarios with ICD-10-CM coding and choice of primary diagnoses.
