2019 Emergency Preparedness Compliance in SNF and LTC Communities with Focus on Armed Intruder/Active Shooter Awareness

Description

Newly enforced CMS Emergency Preparedness Requirements of Participation (RoP) have compelled skilled nursing facilities (SNF) around the country to implement comprehensive emergency management programs to not only ensure compliance but provide a safe and better prepared environment of care. This full-day workshop presents these compliance elements as they pertain to SNFs as well reviewed enforcement practices and strategies to help promote survey success in this area of operations. The critical importance of "All Hazards Planning" and utilization of a trusted emergency management model known as the Nursing Home Incident Command System (NHICS) will be a main focus of this program. A segment of this workshop will be dedicated to a peril known as, "The Unthinkable" which will present the options for staff to consider if an armed intruder or active shooter event occurs within or near a health care facility.
