HIPPS are the new billing codes under PDPM - October 1, 2019 under PDPM, SNFs will be using a new set of HIPPS codes on the MDS and on the Part A claim to identify a residents payment classification. This is where it all comes together. This 5 digit code will be a representation of the case mix adjusted components as well as the assessment type. “HIPPS Don’t Lie” how critical accuracy in the MDS (and the documentation to support it) is, not only to drive appropriate and collaborative patient care but to ensure reimbursement which captures the diagnosis, conditions, co-morbidities and treatments of each resident. In this session, we will review the model, each of the components, steps for accurately capturing data and documentation to support the PDPM categories and ultimately the HIPPS codes. We’ll also wrap up with strategies for our pre go-live transition approach as we’ll be in our final count down!
